FAQs

How do I know if speech-language therapy is needed?

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has several online resources available to better understand typical speech-language development.

Consultation with the speech therapist through a phone call will provide an opportunity to learn more about your child’s speech language skills. If an evaluation is warranted, the speech therapist will provide information about your child’s strengths and weaknesses and whether therapy is warranted.

How are therapy sessions completed?

Therapy sessions will last between 30-45 minutes depending on the needs of each child. Sessions will occur at our clinic space in Merrimack.

Families are welcome to observe sessions to better understand therapeutic interventions techniques.

What is the cancellation policy at Bright Side?

If you are unable to attend, a call, text, or email must be sent to the therapist 2 hours before the scheduled session. We understand that life happens, cancellations occurring less than 2 hours before the sessions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

What is Bright Side’s illness policy?

Children and families (therapists included!) who are showing signs and symptoms of illness including runny nose, coughing, shortness of breath, vomiting or diarrhea, are asked to cancel their scheduled session.

Once the household has been 24 hours symptom free therapy sessions will begin again.

Why private pay?

Bright Side is currently accepting state medicaid (NHHF, WellSense) and some commercial insurances (Ambetter, Cigna, Anthem, Harvard Pilgrim, and Aetna) as well as private pay clients.

Private pay allows the therapist to spend the maximum amount of time serving your child and preparing materials instead of waiting for insurance companies and doctor’s offices to verify a need for therapy or provide authorization to receive services.
